Sen. Imee Marcos visits Abuyog, spearheads AICS payout

Senator Imee R. Marcos paid a quick visit to Abuyog, Leyte and led the ceremonial pay-out of the 1,000 beneficiaries of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) in ACC evacuation gym on Saturday April 1, 2023.

The Senator was warmly welcomed by the Abuyognons and was joined in at the ceremonial payout by local government officials led by Municipa Mayor Hon. Octavio J. Traya Jr., Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Regional Director officer, Natividad G. Sequito, and Abuyog Community College President, Dr. Clemelle L. Montallana.

In his welcome message, municipal Vice-mayor Hon. Lemuel Gin K. Traya extended his immense gratitude to Senator Imee Marcos and his staff for choosing Abuyog as one of municipalties in the region to be visited.

“Naimbag na aldaw, and welcome to Abuyog Senator Imee Marcos”, Hon. Lemuel Gin Traya said in his welcome message.

Shortly afterwards, the Senator then greeted the attendees in the Waray-waray language and delivered a short talk on strongly pushing for budget allocation to the town to help the poor, underserved, and vulnerable constituents.

The AICS program, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Leyte, offers support not only for medical and burial expenses but also for those facing financial difficulties caused by increased fuel and commodity prices.
