THC ORGANIZES COMPETITIVE EXAMS FOR NEWBIES By Tonton Recreo

The search is on for new aspiring journalists who wish to be part of the campus media team, as The Honeycomb organized this semester’s written and oral qualifying exams at THC Office and Library, on Friday September 15.

From the diverse pool of qualifiers who signed up for the online application, 15 applicants bravely face the competitive tests bringing with them their background knowledge and experiences in the field of campus journalism.

The said activity started at 8:00 am and ended at 03:00 PM. Student applicants were given one hour to finish the written exams and 20 minutes to answer the challenging questions raised by the panel.

Serving as the panel of interviewers were Editor-in-chief, Steven Mark Parado, Feature Editor, Rogie Beringuel, Head Layout Artist, Aubrey Jervoso, Head Photojournalist, Jasper. Jay Ferrera and Senior Staff Writer, Mark Dave Joser.

Meanwhile, facilitating the written exams were Managing Editor, Rose Ann Villote, Multimedia Editor, Ervin Ochia, Sports Editor, Mitche Ann Cantilang, Head Cartoonist, Joey Cadayong and Head Correspondent, Chyra Mae Ceraga.

In his welcome message, The Honeycomb adviser, Alvin V. Advincula expressed his delight seeing the applicant’s willingness and commitment as they responded to the call of the publication, and wished everyone to continue their passion in campus journalism and in forging stories that will benefit the school and the community. “Laban lang, kapit lang, kaya natin to,” Advincula said.

The results of the screening will be posted on the official Facebook page of The Honeycomb Campus Media on September 20, Wednesday.
