Educ Days feature Interhigh Academic Tilts and Responsible Digital Citizenship Symposium

As the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) of ACC capped off the first day of its Education Days 2023 with the interhigh school academic competitions and a symposium on Responsible Digital Citizenship, Wednesday afternoon October 4, at Abuyog Community College campus.

Spearheading the parallel events were the League of Teacher Education Students (LOTES) officers, with the guidance of the esteemed Dean of CASE, Dr. Domer P. Regis and with the active arm of support of its faculty members.

Inter-high school academic contests include quiz bee, spelling bee and declamation which was participated by five competing high schools namely; Abuyog Academy Inc., Abuyog National High School, Notre Dame of Abuyog, Balocawehay National High School, and Canmarating National High School.

In his message, Mr. Regie Redoña, Quiz bee committee head, highlighted this year’s Education Days theme and reminded everyone of the true essence and purpose behind actively engaging in these activities.

“This exciting intellectual competition is designed to enhance intellect and promote camaraderie among students,” Redoña said .

Following this inspiring speech, the event transitioned smoothly into the competition phase. The criteria and instructions for the competitions were shared with great clarity by the committee members, Ms. Aryanne Querquez for the Quiz Bee, while Mr. JP Adtoon for the Spelling Bee.

The three witty contenders for each competing teams took center stage for the quiz bee meanhwile, two eager participants for the Spelling bee contested in each round of the competition.

Meanwhile, speaking of spectacles, actors from five various schools, each consisting of a single performer onstage, showcased their confident and creative facial expressions during the interschool Declamation Contest.

Meanhwile, simultaneously held at ACC gymnasium was the informative symposium on Responsible Digital Citizenship with expert resource speaker Mr. Ariem Venezuela Cinco. The said symposium left a lasting impact on the mind of ACCians, as they immersed themselves in becoming responsible positive digital citizen.

Mr. Cinco emphasized that addressing the necessary 21st century skills of digital citizenship is an important undertaking as a part of the educational landscape.

He also reiterated that to become a good digital citizen means demonstrating safe, responsible, and legal use of all technological components within the digital domain.

“In the digital world, digital literacy is the responsibility of everyone.” Cinco ended his talk.

On the other hand, the anticipation reached its exciting peak as the results of the winner for the Interhigh school academic contests were announced.

In the Spelling Bee, Abuyog National High School took third place, Canmarating National High School secured second place, and Abuyog Academy clinched first place.

In the Quiz Bee, Balocawehay National High School claimed third place, Abuyog Academy came in second, and Abuyog National High School emerged as the first-place winner.

In the Declamation Contest, a tie for third place was awarded to Canmarating National High School and Notre Dame of Abuyog. Abuyog Academy secured second place, and Abuyog National High School took the first place spot.

The conclusion of the Day 1 events marked a pivotal moment that went beyond mere recognition; it was a time filled with precious experiences and cherished memories that added a resounding note of triumph to the success of Education Days 2023.
