𝘉𝘺 𝘙𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘦 𝘉𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘭

In a remarkable fusion of language, literature and library information celebrations, the virtual opening ceremonies of the English Month Celebration and the 89th National Book Week took the online realms,on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Led by the Language and Literature Unit of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education through the active involvement of the English Guild officers and in collaboration with the Library Information Services office, the virtual affair captivated the audiences with a symphony of words and ideas.

Anchored on the theme, “Language, Literature and Library Information in the Reel World of Artificial Intelligence and Social Media Influencers”, amidst the technical delays during the live stream, the language and literature advocates of the college patiently waited to commemorate the richness of the English language and the enduring power of books in this technologically-advanced generation.

The event was formally opened by College President, Dr. Clemelle L. Montallana emphasizing that the academic community is working on creating awareness on the positive impact and the challenges as reclining into the idea of social media influencers and the responsiveness to the ethical use of this artificial intelligence.

In addition in his speech, English Guild Adviser, Mr. Alvin Advincula highlighted that the double up events are an ode to linguistic diversity and cultural expression, that will unfold its curtains with a vibrant display of creativity, language games, and insightful discussions.

In tandem, the 89th National Book Week with the theme, “Read, Reread, Relive”, emerged as a beacon of literary appreciation, honoring the written word and its profound impact on society. College librarian, Ms. Neri Joy Elic graced the digital platform, emphasizing the importance of reading in fostering knowledge and empathy especially in this times of digital revolution.

The seamless integration of these back-to-back celebrations highlighted the synergy between language and literature, creating an immersive experience for the four competing English Guild factions namely; Team Peaceful Amity, Team Honest Candor, Team Brave Dauntless, and Team Intelligent Erudite.

As the virtual realm transformed into a haven for literary exploration, participants were not only spectators but active contributors to the celebration of words with their critical evaluation on the future of education with the use of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.

This unique confluence of events not only reinforced the significance of language and literature but also showcased the adaptability of cultural celebrations in the digital age. In a world where connectivity knows no bounds, the English Month Celebration and the 89th National Book Week set a precedent for embracing the limitless possibilities of virtual gatherings in fostering a love for language and literature.

Moreover, online contests awaits our ACC community in the next two weeks and the on-site culminating activity will happen on December 1(Friday), where another batch of engaging and exciting activities are lined-up.
