ACC MatSci Org sparkles MatSci Days 2024 by Rodelyn Petere

Amidst the vibrant atmosphere of academic fervor, Abuyog Community College- Mathematics and Science Organization (ACC MatSci) sparkled at the ACC grounds as they host its annual MatSci Days celebration, showcasing the talents and skills of BSED Math and Science students in various academic contests.

With the theme “Eco-Explorers: Nourishing the Students’ Minds with Mathematics and Science,” four teams, namely Numerical Ninjas (Faction 1), Scientific Squadron (Faction 2), Analytical Avengers (Faction 3), and Theoretical Titans (Faction 4) engaged in various fun activities and competitions.

From February 29th to March 1st, the campus was abuzz with a series of events such as Interschool (Elementary and Secondary) MatSci QuizBowl, Damath Integers and Chess Tournament, Rubik’s cube challenge, MatSci Race, Talent Show and Parlor Games providing a platform for BSED Math and Science students to exchange ideas and insights

To kick off the program, ACC MatSci President, Marjorie Archin welcomed everyone and expressed her excitement and enthusiasm for the MATSCI Days Celebration.

“As the President, I’m excited to have you ,join us for a day filled with fun and learning. Let’s have a great time together, learn new things, and celebrate the beauty of math, science, and our planet!” Archin said.

Meanwhile, College President, Dr. Clemelle L. Montallana, CESE, also delivered an inspiring message, urging attendees to reflect on the significance of their Math and Science proficiency and its impact on shaping the future.

“I hope you should always remember this day when you are told that your intelligence, whether it helps or not, could shape the future. Please choose the better path,” Dr. Montallana emphasized.

At the celebration comes to its close, the Numerical Ninjas (Faction 1) emerged as the overall winner. They were closely followed by the Scientific Squadron (Faction 2), the Theoretical Titans (Faction 4), and the Analytical Avengers (Faction 3).

In an interview, ACC MatSci adviser, Mr. Jose Kim Orven Tan, emphasized the importance of innovation and excellence, urging participants to strive for continuous improvement in their fields.

“I just wished and hoped that we would find a way to put innovativeness and excellence into place. So we can bring more of our clubs, department, and society in general to that positive tipping point. For the place of everyone is no longer a matter for future solution but a matter of current reality for everybody at every level,” he expressed.

MatSci Days 2024 served as a platform to celebrate the sparkling beauty of math, science, and innovation while highlighting the importance of proficiency in these subjects.
