𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗔𝗖𝗖-𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗢, 𝗚𝗔𝗗, 𝗦𝗔𝗢, 𝗔𝗔 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝘂𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝘣𝘺 𝘉𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘓𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘥𝘢

In a groundbreaking collaboration of Abuyog Community College; Community and Extension Services Office (CESO), Gender and Development (GAD), Sports and Athletics Office (SAO), and Alumni Association (AA) have joined forces to spearhead Empower Run 2024, held on March 23 at ACC campus.

The initiative was in line with the celebration of the National Women’s Month and aimed at promoting gender equality and women empowerment in the community.

The event drew participation of more than 600 hundred passionate individuals who laced up their running shoes to support a noble mission.

Each participant’s presence symbolized their commitment to making a positive impact in the campus and community.

As early as 4:00 AM, the ACC entrance gate was flocked by eager runners for the registration. Shortly after, runners gathered around the ACC grounds for a lively Zumba session led by Zin Pcpt. Leo Regachuelo to get everyone warmed up and ready for the main event.

At 6:30 am, the runners piled up at the starting line as the Empower Run countdown started.As the race commenced, the streets of Abuyog came alive with the sound of cheers and encouragement as runners walk in pairs.

The Empower Run has two categy which was the 5K run, which starts from ACC, passes through five stations, namely ( Barayong- Sto.Niño Park, Tab-ok, Abuyog Municipal Park and Bito Nashbliss corner).On the other hand, the 3K run with station situated at Sto.Niño Park, Tab-ok, Abuyog Municipal Park and Bito Nashbliss corner also.

Along the course, Abuyog police department, disaster risk reduction management volunteers, student-led organizations and spectators cheered on the runners, showcasing the community’s unwavering support for gender equality and women empowerment.

Water stations provided refreshments and encouragement, ensuring that participants remained energized and safe throughout the race.

The Empower Run concluded with a vibrant post-race celebration, featuring fun games and raffle draw winners.Top three finishers for each category were recognized during the awarding ceremony.

Participants shared their experiences and reflections, highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment in creating a more inclusive and equitable society.

Speaking at the event, ACC- Community and Extension Services Office coordinator, Mrs. Irene Belleza emphasized the significance of initiatives like the Empower Run in fostering a culture of empowerment, gender equality and building an inclusive future.

“Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere,” Mrs. Belleza stated. “By coming together in solidarity, we can create positive change and build a future where every woman and girl can thrive.” she added.

The Empower Run 2024 served as a powerful reminder of the collective strength and determination of every ACCian and beyond. As the participants crossed the finish line, they did so not only as runners but as champions of equality, empowerment, and progress.
