Abuyog Community College (ACC) made history on October 3, 2034 by holding its inaugural Teacher-Education Summit, a landmark event for faculty and aspiring educators in the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) programs.
The summit, which took place at the Abuyog Mini Gym, brought together students and faculty members for a day filled with inspirational talks, expert-led sessions, and hands-on learning experiences.
“You cultivate love and passion within the child so that you can create a better world. So ang guro, the teachers are creating seeds of goodness in every single person’s heart, not just for it to have its story, but to build a better world. In fact, teachers are not just teachers; they are sowers of a good future in every pupil, in every student’s heart,” said Dr. Clemelle L. Montallana during his welcoming address.
Dr. Clemelle L. Montallana also emphasized the vital role educators play in shaping a more compassionate and brighter society by instilling love and passion in their students.
With his presence, Executive Chairman and Abuyog Municipal Mayor, Hon. Lemuel Gin K. Traya delivered an inspiring message about the long-term impact of the summit.
He also praised ACC’s initiative, stating, “This is the first at ACC, and surely, this will not be the last.”
With his profound background, resource speaker of the said event, Dr. Voltaire M. Villanueva, energized the crowd with his thought-provoking address, emphasizing the reciprocal nature of teaching.
“Teaching is giving and also receiving,” Dr. Villanueva said, encouraging future educators to remain open to learning from their students just as much as they impart knowledge.
The summit also featured a series of expert talks and interactive activities designed to equip future educators with practical skills.
One highlight was Dr. Villanueva’s workshop on classroom management techniques, which focused on innovative strategies to maintain student engagement. He introduced the concept of IMBA—Inobatibo, Mapanuri, Bago, at Aktibo (Innovative, Analytical, New, and Active)—as key qualities educators should cultivate.
Adding a touch of humor to the event, Dr. Domer P. Regis became known for his casual and enthusiastic acknowledgment of the crowd with his signature “Eyyy…” greeting, which quickly became a favorite among participants.
The summit was widely regarded as a success, offering both inspiration and practical tools to the next generation of educators. ACC plans to make this a recurring event, reinforcing its commitment to providing holistic teacher training for its students.
The day concluded with participants leaving the venue equipped with new knowledge and a deeper sense of purpose, ready to embrace the challenges of shaping future minds. As the summit emphasized, the mission of teaching is to teach, touch, and transform the nation.
