In a powerful stride toward global engagement and professional advancement, faculty members of the Languages and Literature Unit of Abuyog Community College proudly participated in the Teaching English the Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in Action International Conference 2025 held on May 26–27, 2025, at the Leyte Normal University (LNU), Ballroom, Administration Building.

Said two-day workshop was not only an academic gathering but a celebration of collaboration and inspiration. Participants were treated to an extraordinary learning experience, headlined by three dynamic English Language Fellows from the United States Embassy – Regional English Language Office (RELO): Emily Box (Utah, USA), Maureen Rooney (Rhode Island, USA), Michael Schapiro (Maryland, USA)

These esteemed English Language Fellows captivated the audience with practical insights, real-world classroom strategies, and energizing sessions that highlighted innovations and inclusivity in English language education.

Adding local brilliance to the international stage were the academic contributions of distinguished English teachers from Leyte Normal University namely, Dr. Glenda D. Cadiente, Dr. Arlynn C. Aguilar, Asst. Prof. Robertgie L. Piañar, Asst. Prof. Jufran C. Agustin

Their presentations covered a wide range of transformative topics, including linguistic landscape, teaching internship practices, artificial intelligence in language instruction, and multilingualism in education. These sessions provided a research-informed yet practical framework that enriched every attendee’s perspective on the future of English language teaching.

The workshop provided an eye-opening look into current TESOL trends—highlighting learner-centered techniques, real-world application, and inclusivity in English language training.

“This workshop was not just about learning new strategies—it was a moment of realization that language education is ever-evolving. Being in the same room with global experts reminded us that we, too, can contribute meaningfully to the international dialogue on TESOL,” Prof. Jean Alvero, ACC language educator shared.

The ACC Languages and Literature Unit extends heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, speakers, and facilitators of the Teaching English the Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in Action International Conference.
