Two days after Christmas and just before the year 2025 came to a close, Abuyog Community College Community and Extension Services Office (ACC-CESO) continued to embody the true spirit of the season as it conducted Pamaskong Handog 2025 at Barangay Lawaan, Abuyog, Leyte on Saturday, December 27.

Led by the ACC-CESO under the coordination of Prof. Irene Belleza, and supported by select faculty and students, the outreach carried the theme โ€œDonate Clothes and Foods for Families in Need.โ€

The initiative aimed to extend hope and joy to families, particularly those from underprivileged communities, beyond the traditional Christmas celebrations.

Launched in 2020, Pamaskong Handog has been a yearly commitment of ACC-CESO to community service for five consecutive years.

Through this program, the ACC-CESO has reached various urban and neighboring barangays in Abuyog, including Tuy-a, Mahayahay, Lawaan, Pilar, Bahay, and Malaguicay. This program also strengthens ACCโ€™s role as an institution grounded in compassion, service, and unity.

The activity was made possible through the collective efforts of ACC faculty and staff, in partnership with generous donors and supporters.

During the distribution, more than 100 households received donated clothes and food packs, bringing smiles and renewed hope to beneficiaries as the year drew to an end.

In her message, Prof. Belleza expressed gratitude for the blessings received throughout the year and highlighted the importance of collaboration in sustaining the program.

โ€œHinaot unta adi na Pasko magpasalamat kita san aton mga grasya nga nadawat adi na tuig. Ngan hingyap ko sit tikaarabot na Bag-ong tuig, magpadayon ini nga akon programa tungod san iyo mga bulig through collaboration han faculty and staff, the Honeycomb, ngan an tanan para maging successful ini nga event,โ€ she shared.

She further expressed optimism that with continued support, Pamaskong Handog will reach more barangays in the coming year.

Despite challenges, she emphasized that the fulfillment gained from helping others remains the driving force of the program.

According to Prof. Belleza, the outreach reflects the broader role of educators not only as teachers inside the classroom but also as servants of the community.

She also extended her gratitude to all donors, noting that the success of the activity would not have been possible without their generosity.

One of the beneficiaries, Grace Impuesto, a mother from Barangay Lawaan, shared her simple yet heartfelt wish for post-Christmas and the upcoming New Year.

โ€œPasalamat ako sa Ginoo nga maupay tam panlawas sit akon tibuok pamilya, labi na sit akon tiarabot na birthday. It akon la wish, maupay la gihapon it dalagan sit panahon sa amon tibook pamilya labi na san ak ginikanan,โ€ she said.

Her words echoed the quiet hopes of many familiesโ€”for good health, peace, and a better future for their loved ones.

Beyond Christmas and into the yearโ€™s final days, ACC continues to bring hope and joyโ€”one barangay at a time.
