Abuyog Community College (ACC) formally launched Project LIWANAG on February 9, 2026, offering a beacon of hope for learners whose education was previously interrupted by work, family, or life circumstances.

The soft opening, held at the ACC Business Incubation Facility (BIF) and led by the College Board of Trustees, marks the collegeโ€™s renewed commitment to inclusive education.

Thirty-eight learners, including employees from LGU Abuyog and LGU Javier, have enrolled in the program, which targets working learners, solo parents, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

Project LIWANAG meaning โ€œlightโ€ symbolizes guidance, renewal, and the belief that education is never out of reach. Its logo, a lamp shining atop an open book, reflects the programโ€™s vision of illuminating the path to knowledge and personal growth.

To accommodate learners balancing work and personal responsibilities, ACC offers flexible learning options, including night classes and weekend sessions.

The initiative was conceived after officials observed that several local government employees were hindered in their career growth due to incomplete academic requirements.

Project LIWANAG provides these learners the chance to earn the units for the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship program while continuing to serve their communities.

In his message, ACC Executive Chairman, Hon. Mayor Lemuel Gin K. Traya expressed his support, emphasizing that while success is not guaranteed, the programโ€™s value lies in its capacity to improve lives. He hopes that Project LIWANAG will continue for years to come, reaching even more learners in need.

Moreover, ACC College President Clemelle L. Montallana inspired the enrollees, saying, โ€œHuli man daw at magaling, tiyak ay hahabol din.โ€ His message reinforced the idea that it is never too late to pursue education and achieve oneโ€™s goals.

Through Project LIWANAG, Abuyog Community College sends a clear message to the community: dreams may be delayed, but they are never lost.

As the first batch of learners embarks on their educational journey, ACC continues to light the way toward opportunity, growth, and a brighter tomorrow.
