After a week-long opening of applications, the call has been answered and Abuyog Community College (ACC) is proudly in the spotlight.

Out of 11 newly selected environmental journalists who responded to the #PanaadCall, three members from The Honeycomb, the official campus media of Abuyog Community College, have earned their place in Leyteโ€™s pioneering environmental journalism initiative.

Representing ACC in this milestone movement are: Prof. John Paul Adtoon, Technical Adviser, Gian Antoc, Layout Artist, and Sheryl Yabut, Photojournalist

Leading the charge is Helbert Jaima, Managing Editor and one of The Honeycombโ€™s news anchors, who was officially named among the 20 new scouts of the Association of Young Environmental Journalists (AYEJ).

Last May 1, 2025, Helbert and fellow scouts from various colleges and universities across the region converged at Visayas State University for the intensive Blitz Workshop, a dynamic gathering designed to sharpen storytelling skills, deepen ecological awareness, and ignite passion for environmental advocacy.

Now, the momentum continues with ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ, hosted by Panaad Ha Sinirangan-AYEJ Leyte. This independent movement is the first-ever Environmental Journalism Hub in Leyte dedicated to environmental storytelling, solutions-driven reporting, and the preservation of indigenous ecological knowledge.

More than just a training ground, the Environmental Journalism Hub promises to be a movement that transforms young writers into storytellers of impact.
