THC empowers scribes with its Capacity Building and Enhancement Camp

Fueling its unwavering dedication to fostering the future wave of campus journalists, The Honeycomb, the official student publication of Abuyog Community College successfully conducted a comprehensive two-day Capacity Building and Enhancement Camp, at ACC Science Laboratory on August 3-4, 2023.

The aforementioned two-day event was attended by The Honeycomb publication adviser, Editorial Board, Editorial Staff, and Creative Team.

In his opening message, College President Dr. Clemelle L. Montalla, highlighted the significance of ethical journalism and underscored the unique challenges faced by journalists in the digital age.

Dr. Montallana also encouraged the scribes to explore their passion and uphold integrity and truth whenever they are reporting.

Meanwhile, The Honeycomb coordinator, Mr. Alvin Advincula, shared a statement of purpose, urging attendees to recognize their capabilities and strive for improvement.
“We have the capacity already. We have not come this far without purpose. We are here because people believe in your capacity. We are here to enhance whatever the things that need to be enhanced,” he stressed.

Moreover, it was followed by an intensive discussion of three different topics, The Honeycomb Executive Editor, Mr. John Paul Adtoon, delved into the initial topic which was Revisiting the Charter. Accomplishments of the organization were presented by THC Managing Editor, Mr. Paolo Rosales, while Mr. Steven Parado, THC Feature Editor, led an action plan workshop.

One of the most powerful aspect of the camp was setting the stage for the outgoing editorial board and THC members to hand over responsibilities seamlessly and unveiling of the fresh editorial board.

Further, the event was filled with fun as participants engaged in lively team-building activities, wrapping up an enriching journey aimed at nurturing teamwork and cooperation.

Indeed, the two-day capacity building and enhancement camp encompassed a diverse array of activities and hands-on learning opportunities and proved to be an engaging and enriching experience for student journalists, leaving them with enriched perspectives, newfound skills, and a renewed sense of purpose in their pursuit of journalistic excellence.
