A milestone achievement has been etched in the history of student leadership and campus journalism as The Honeycomb (THC), the official campus media of Abuyog Community College, proudly received the Excellence in Community Engagement and Social Responsibility Award during the First-Ever Gawad PAPSAS: Student Council Excellence Awards.

The award was formally conferred during the 3rd Regional Student Leadership Summit and Conference held at Summit Hotel on Friday night, March 6, where student leaders from across Eastern Visayas gathered to celebrate impactful leadership and transformative initiatives among student councils and organizations.

The recognition highlights the success of Ready. Press. Write. Community Connect outreach program conducted in Manlilisid National High School and Abuyog Academy Incorporated in 2025 which aimed at empowering young writers and aspiring journalists through campus journalism training, storytelling workshops, and media literacy engagement.

Receiving the award on behalf of the organization was THC News Editor Iris Anne Oliveron, accompanied by ACC Supreme Student Council officers Princess Gwyneth P. Adlaon (Auditor) and Lean Aldrie C. Romo (First Year Representative), with the guidance of Prof. Christopher Gallos, Director of the ACC Office of Student Affairs.

The Gawad PAPSAS: Student Council Excellence Awards, launched for the first time this year, recognized student councils and organizations across Eastern Visayas whose initiatives created meaningful change in their institutions and communities.

As the summitโ€™s theme echoed the call to โ€œRise and Revolutionize,โ€ the recognition affirms that student leaders and campus journalists continue to transform ideas into action and service into lasting community impact.

With this milestone achievement, The Honeycomb further strengthens its mission of amplifying voices, nurturing young storytellers, and bridging campuses with communities through responsible journalism.
