The Local Colleges and Universities Athletic Association Region VIII (LCUAA VIII) 2026 officially launched its medal chase in spectacular fashion as the Cultural Dance Competition set the tone for a week of intense rivalry, pride, and tradition at the heart of Ormoc City.

Kicking off the medal events, the four competing colleges delivered a high-energy and visually striking Festival Dance showdown, transforming the arena into a vibrant tapestry of culture, rhythm, and storytelling. Each delegation brought its identity to life through movement, music, and symbolic artistry, drawing cheers from an electrified crowd.

Emerging at the top of the inaugural competition was Burauen Community College, clinching the first gold medal with a commanding and culturally rich performance that captivated judges and spectators alike. Close behind, Catbalogan City Community College secured second place, showcasing precision and creative choreography that reflected strong festival heritage interpretation.

In third place, Abuyog Community College proudly claimed the bronze, but their performance carried the weight and brilliance of a victory in itself. Their depiction of the Buyogan Festival resonated deeply on stage, bold, spirited, and alive with cultural pride; earning them a bronze that shone like gold in the eyes of supporters.

Meanwhile, City College of Ormoc finished in fourth place, delivering a passionate and disciplined presentation that still drew strong applause, signaling their readiness to bounce back in the succeeding events.
