A wave of unity and school pride swept through the Ormoc City Superdome as the Local Colleges and Universities Athletic Association Region VIII (LCUAA VIII) 2026 officially opened on April 19, gathering student-athletes, coaches, and academic leaders from across Eastern Visayas.

The highly anticipated regional meet roared to life with a vibrant parade of schools, as delegations from Abuyog Community College, Burauen Community College, Catbalogan City Community College, and host City College of Ormoc marched with pride, carrying their banners and identities into the arena.
Cheers echoed across the packed venue as college administrators joined their respective teams, raising flags that symbolized both rivalry and solidarity. The spectacle blended athletic anticipation with cultural expression, setting the tone for days of spirited contests ahead.

Delivering the welcome message, Ormoc City Mayor, Hon. Lucy Torres-Gomez underscored the essence of unity in sports, reminding participants that true victory lies in mutual respect and encouragement.
